You can use any text editor to write down your personal notes, but you will not be able to organize them properly, on a standard explorer window. KeepNote allows you to create, edit and organize notes and perform various tasks, on the same window. The software includes a good number of useful features, which make it much easier to store notes and locate them.

It takes three clicks to start installing KeepNote's components on your computer. The software is free and it is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It does not ask for additional tools or services and it will not affect your computer's performance.

KeepNote allows you to create your own system of folders and sub-folders, in a tree structure, on the left side of the user interface. If you wish to arrange your notes in a hierarchical structure, you can turn folders and notes into child or parent items, just by clicking and dragging them, in the same tree structure. The contents of a selected folder or note are displayed on the right side of the interface, so you can perform almost any task, on the same window.

While editing a note, you can select different fonts and change the text's size, color and alignment. Besides typing in a selected note, you can also insert images and screenshots, attach files, create web links and more. If you attach a file, it will appear as the note's child item, in the tree structure.

It is also possible to color code folders and notes or change their icons. This can be useful if you wish to make your notes easier to spot, prioritize them or create To-do lists. If you want to view your notes on other computers, you can export your notebook as an HTML file and load it on a web browser.

Pros

Notes can be organized in a hierarchical structure. You can color code notes and folders and change their icons. The software also allows you to attach files, insert images or screenshots. Notebooks can be exported in HTML format, so you can view your notes on other computers.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention. Due to KeepNote's flexibility, any information that is worth remembering can be saved and organized without any effort.
